Dr. Somashekar is the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board and Director of the Aster International Institute of Oncology. He is a pioneer in this field, having performed more than 3,000 robotic surgeries and 1,000  (HIPEC) procedures.

His awards include Dr. D. D. Patel Gold Medal, Dronacharya Teachers Award, and Times Award for Excellence in Oncology, and many more. He has many books, educational books and publications.
