The Neurosurgery team at Faruk Medical City (FMC) has successfully treated Saer Fakhry’s difficult case.
Saer Fakhry, a 59 year-old male, was suffering from a severe headache with vomiting for around 10 days. Before becoming unconscious when he was rushed to our emergency department from Kirkuk as the patient’s brother indicated. After examination from our emergency team he was found to be suffering from subarachnoid hemorrhage with intraventricular and left frontal hematoma as a result of AICOM aneurysm, which is the enlargement of the brain artery due to weakness in the artery wall. Mr. Saer was referred to Dr. Khattab Baban, a Neurosurgeon at FMC. After examining the patient’s radiological imaging and test results, Dr. Khattab has decided that the patient needed Aneurysmal Clipping to treat his condition, but first he needed to be stabilized before the procedure with the help of Dr. Emad Mohammed, Neurologist at FMC. Mr. Saer’s was stabilized. A seven hour long surgery was successfully performed on the 3rd of May for the first time in Sulaymaniyah at FMC with cooperation of a full medical team that consisted of the below physicians.
